Anamanaguchi is a chiptune rock band that uses an NES and Game Boy along with guitars, bass, and drum. The band composed the soundtrack for the Scott Pilgrim game, a song of theirs is used for the The Nerdist Podcast, and they have the second most funded music project on Kickstarter. Their second LP Endless Fantasy came out in May and they are touring to promote it. One of their stops is in Morgantown on Saturday July 27th at 123 Pleasant Street. Listen to their performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to get an idea of what they are like.
They will be joined by Kitty Pryde and Trey Frey. Kitty is a rapper who has worked with Riff Raff on a single and had a song ranked #17 on Rolling Stone magazine’s top 50 songs of 2012. Trey is a Game Boy DJ from Morgantown, who I have gotten to see perform live before. Expect some cool visuals along with his music.
You can buy tickets in advance for $10 or buy at the door for $12. For $30 you can get an meet & greet with Kitty, personal autograph and photograph, tour shirt, sticker and button set, and some more. The event will be all ages. The show will run from 9pm till around 2am. Anamanguchi has played twice before at 123 to sold out crowds, so do not miss out.
If you like the music of video games from the 80’s, this is the kind of music scene you need to check out.
