Mothman Festival 2016

The Mothman Festival returns this Saturday September 17th and Sunday 18th in Point Pleasant.  This year is the 15th anniversary of the festival and the 50th of the first sightings of the Mothman.  The festival is a unique blend of street festival and convention.

There are several presentations on various paranormal topics every year at the Historic State Theater on Main Street. Guest speakers for this year are Fred Saluga (Director of WV & Penn. Mutual UFO Network), Sherri Brake (Haunted Heartland Tour owner), Cameron Jones (paranormal researcher and investigator), Bill Brock (host of “Monsters Underground” TV show), Robert Robinson (author of “Legend Tripping), Susan Sheppard (creator of Haunted Parkersburg Ghost Tours), George Dudding (author of The Silver Bridge Tragedy), Rosemary Ellen Guiley (expert in paranormal investigations), Nick Redfern (paranormal researcher), Ken Gerhard (co-star of History Channel’s Missing in Alaska), Loren Coleman (crptozoologist), Stan Gordon (UFO researcher), John Frick (paranormal investigator), Joedy Cook (founder of Cryptid Seekers), and Chad Lambert (Harvey nominated comic writer).

Attraction and events at this year’s festival include: Trapper John and the AIMS team from the Mountain Monsters TV show, an Impala from Supernatural, Tram Ride Tours around Pt. Pleasant, face painting, Hillbilly zip-line, horse & carriage rides, Mothman 5k Run & Walk, meet the Mothman costumer, the WV Ghost Busters, Mothman Hayride, TNT bus tours, Pretty Baby Contest, meet the winners of the 9th Annual Mothman Festival Pageant, the visit The Mothman Museum, see the Mothman Statue, eat Mothman themed food, local artisans, artists, and other vendors including the Mothman Merch Tent, visit the Harris Steak House (the Mothman Diner), live bands, and more.

Nearby sites besides the Mothman sites is the River Front Park with hand painted historic murals and stainless steel statues of historical figures, Tu-Endie-Wei State Park, Silver Bride memorial, the River Museum, and the Lowe Hotel.

With the exception of certain activities this is a free event.

This is an event I recommend that everyone at least come see once in their life.
