The 17th Annual Mothman Festival

The 17th annual Mothman Festival returns this weekend September 15th and Sunday 16th.  The event takes place on Main Street Pt. Pleasant and surrounding area.  The festival is an annual gathering that commemorates the mysterious visit of the “Mothman” in the 1960’s and is an event for all ages.  The combination of a convention and street fair.  The event itself is free, but certain events cost a little extra.

There will be plenty to see and plenty to do.  The even will have guest speakers, cosplay groups (501st Legion, Garrison Corellia, Ghostbusters from WV and Ohio with 40ft Stay Puff Marshmallow man, Men in Black, Bigfoot, Mothman costume), TNT Area Bus Tours, kick starter event on Friday night, covered wagon rides, Mothman hayrides, Mothman 5k, Lowe Hotel, the Mothman Museum, Mothman Statue, Mothman themed food items, live music, carnival games, face painting, Hillbilly Zip Line, an obstacle course. merchandise vendors, Fallout 76 fan event and giveaways from Bethesda, Mothman Pageant winners, and more to check out.

The panels on Men in Black, various cryptids, UFOs, the Battle of Point Pleasant, and more at the Historic State Theater.  On Saturday at 7pm at the , there will be a screening of the first installment of American Monster Tour, “Oklahoma Demon Flyer,” followed by a Q&A.  American Monster Tour is an independent documentary series investigating cryptids across America.  Other speakers include Ken Gerhard, Nick Redfern, and Lyle Blackburn.

Friday night on the September 14th, there will be a screening of three movies about small town monsters on the big screen at the State Theater starting at 6pm.  Admission is free.

I really do believe this is an event that everyone should experience at least once.  Lots to see and people to meet.
