Zombiefest is a zombie festival and run operated by The Haunted Barn.  It will be May 10th at Camp Virgil Tate in the Charleston area.

Things start with a 5k obstacle course through woods starting at 7am.  A 5k mountain bike starts over the same course at noon.  At 4pm the zombie run of the same course starts, an obstacle course with zombies chasing you all along the way to steal your life flags.  All you have to do is make it to the finish line with one life flag left.  Cash prizes and awards will be handed out for all the races.  First 1500 to pre-reg for the zombie run get a free zombie run t-shirt.

After all the running and biking then the apocalypse after party starts.  You can hang with special guests at the event: horror legend Tom Savini, actor, stuntman, director, special effects and makeup artist; Tyler Mane, Sabertooth from X-Men movie, Michael Myers in the Halloween remake; Tamara Glynn, Samantha Thomas in Halloween 5; Savana Jade Wehunt and Jeremy Ambler of The Walking Dead; Goldie Fatale and Andie Noir of Fatale Noir Productions; and professorial wrestler The Stro. There will be Zombie Laser Tag provided by Fright nights of Glade Springs Resort, vendors, concession stands with beer.  There will be concerts by Gage, Dead Serious, The Renfields, Fully Justified, Stych N Tyme, and Bobaflex.  Nice line up for hard rock fans.

Yet another event out there for zombie lovers.  Though those who just like to party should also find it nice.

Parkersburg Premiere and Party for Pro Wrestlers versus Zombies

Pro Wrestlers versus Zombies is an indy film about professional wrestlers fighting zombies.  It was filmed in Parkersburg, using several locals and directed by Cody Knotts.  The big local première is this week, so if you like wrestling and/or zombies you are going to want to get to these events.  The movie is getting a lot of buzz and listed as one of the top zombie films of the year on IMDB.

Things start off on Thursday May 27th at the West Virginia National Guard Armory in Parkersburg.  Rowdy Roddy Piper, WWF legend and star of the film, will be there signing autographs for free.  Admission is also free.  Jeremy Ambler, WV native and zombie on the Walking Dead and the movie, will also be there.  The event goes from 6pm till 9pm.

The big Premiere of the movie is on Friday May 28.  It takes place at the Parkersburg High School auditorium starting at 5pm.  Several of the stars of the film will be there; Roddy Piper, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Matt Hardy, Shane Douglas, and Kurt Angle.  Jeremy Ambler will be at this too.  You will be able to buy a limited edition DVD release of the film, other zombie merch, and play zombie contests for prizes.  Concessions will be sold by Parkersburg HS JROTC.

General Admission tickets for the film is $20.  VIP Tickets are $50 and allow you into a pre-party autograph signing and movie poster.  Super Fan Tickets are $100 and get you a free copy of the movie, t-shirt, and same stuff as VIP.

You can watch the trailer to help decide if you want to go or not.  I saw some clips last summer and the movie does the whole zombie thing as a small group instead of a full apocalypse which I really l like.  Plus lots of action.

Two Ways to See Night of the Living Dead

Night of the Living Dead by George Romero and John Russo is a classic of zombie movie horror and now is your chance to see this story in two different ways.

It is Night of The Living Dead live from the Kanawha Players Theater in Charleston.  A theatrical version of the movie where the actors, props, and sets will all be black and white except for the blood.  Tonight’s performance will feature Jeremy Ambler, from the Walking Dead.  It will be directed by Devon Nuckles and Ginger Workman.
Show dates are October 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th all at 8pm and on the 20th at 2pm.  Tickets $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, kids under 18, and students with ID.

Fall out from a satellite probe shot to Venus returns to Earth carrying a mysterious radiation that transforms the unburied dead into flesh-eating zombies. Seven people trapped in an isolated farmhouse, held hostage by the ravenous ghouls, begin to turn on each other as the dead encroach. A gripping terror-filled monochromatic play that brings all the fright of the cult classic to life. This blend of thrilling horror laced with touches of black humor envelops the audience in the action and unfolds into a shocking theatrical ending.

Come see RiffTrax Live: Night of the Living Dead in a theater near you!
RiffTrax is doing one of their live shows on Tursday October 24 with their riffed version of Night of the Living Dead.  I think this version is going to be different from their earlier riff version.  The movie is only about 90 minutes long, but they always use about two hours.  Which means there should be several shorts before the feature to check out.  Plus arrive early for the pre-show “trivia.”

Check your area for a showing.  I will be in Barboursville again myself.  Tickets are still available.
